Tony Bennett & Bill Evans
Together Again

Tony Bennett on DRG Records
CDMRS901

This second collaboration between Tony Bennett and Bill Evans was produced by Helen Keane for DRG Records. The tracks were recorded at Columbia Studios, San Francisco, California on September 27-30, 1976. The album's liner notes cites various quotes from the composers: Alec Wilder - "Tony performs A Child Is Born with special tenderness. He gives to each word a verbal image, extremely sensitive respect and lovingness. He sings the lovely melody with piano accompaniment only, which is all that is needed, since it is in the phenominally talented hands of Bill Evans."

That kind of sums up the quality of this production. The two collaborations between Bennett and Evans, The Tony Bennett-Bill Evans Album and Together Again, should be in every collection of the best in jazz.
