Chris Connor Sings The George Gershwin Almanac Of Song
Chris Connor on Atlantic Records...

atlantic jazz 601-2

This ambitious project on Atlantic Jazz and produced by Nesuhi Ertegun, Ahmet Ertegun and Jerry Wexler, started on February 1, 1957 with the final track recorded on January 23, 1961, totaling 34 tracks on 2 CDs.

Chris is surrounded by musical all-stars including Ralph Sharon, Vinnie Burke, Maynard Ferguson, Stan Free, Osie Johnson, Milt Hinton, Oscar Pettiford, Al Cohn, Barry Galbraith, Mundell Lowe, Wendell Marshall (talk about the 'usual suspects') and others.

Chris reconstructs the Gershwin songs along modern jazz lines with a flair for improvisation that the brothers Gershwin themselves would have applauded...
