The sides were produced by David Kahne for Columbia Records and recorded at Clinton Studios in New York City. The album was released on October 24, 1995 as a tribute to the premier female vocalists in the business.

The sessions feature the Ralph Sharon Trio with Ralph Sharon on piano, Douglas Richeson on bass and Clayton Cameron on drums. The orchestral charts were written and conducted by Jorge Calandrelli while the big band charts were written and conducted by Bill Holman. All trumpet solos were by Lew Soloff.
